Join Vital Communities for a guided Valley Quest Hawk Walk! Saturday, September 15, 10 am to noon. Mid-September marks the peak of the broad-winged hawk migration, and Gile Mountain (in Norwich, VT) is a spectacular site for it. We'll follow Quest clues to the top, identify and observe as many broad-wingeds (and other species) as we can, and then share our counts and observations with conservation efforts.
All ages welcome! Bring binoculars if you have them. Come prepared to hike and to see one of our region's most breathtaking natural events. The trail is short, taking less than a half hour, and very well maintained.
Due to limited parking at the trailhead, we are going to meet at the Huntley Meadows parking lot from 9:45-10 am. If you're unfamiliar, Huntley Meadows is a big park on Turnpike Rd in Norwich. We'll carpool to the Gile Mountain trailhead, which is right down the road.
Valley Quest is an award-winning, place-based education program that uses treasure hunts to celebrate community, natural history, cultural sites, stories, and special places. For a sneak peek, find the Gile Mountain Quest clues here: http://vitalcommunities.org/valleyquest/quest/gile-mountain/
