Victim remains hospitalized but her condition is not known
TUNBRIDGE - Vermont State Police detectives are looking for the public's help as they try to figure out why an elderly Tunbridge resident was shot with a projectile while she was outside her residence on Spring Road around 8:30 p.m. Saturday evening.
Edith Whitney, who is 88-years-old, was found outside her house at 240 Spring Road suffering from an apparent gun shot wound, according to police.
Friends and neighbors immediately began rendering first aid to Whitney and she was eventually transported to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where as of Sunday afternoon she was listed as being in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
Members of the Vermont State Police, including VSP's Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and members of the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife responded to the area in Tunbridge and their investigation is on-going.
Police are asking anyone who may have information about the incident, including the possible use of firearms for target practice, etc., in the area of Spring Road in Tunbridge to contact the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at (802) 234-9933.
