Vermont Symphony Orchestra in Pomfret
Symphonic music holds a magical quality that is difficult
for me to explain. The intricacies of the melodies intertwined with unusual
rhythms and other musical themes transports the listener deep within the
consciousness without one word being spoken. They are musical compositions that
tell stories without words or even language based impressions.
There are times I have listened to modern popular music and wished song writers would go back to listen to symphonic compositions to break away from the standard patterns of chord progressions they’ve embraced. The complexity of symphonic compositions better mirror the needs we have in our society today. Our ears can gain insight by simply listening.
Being relatively new to Vermont, I was not aware we have a symphony orchestra. I tell you about live music in the area, and it’s usually guitar based. But telling you about the Vermont Symphony Orchestra just about brings me to tears.
The Vermont Symphony Orchestra is coming to the Upper Valley on Sunday, July 1 from 7:30 – 9:30. Gates will open at 5:30 so the audience can get a nice picnic play on the lawn at Suicide Six in West Pomfret. Tickets are $28 in advance and $35 at the gate.
Musician friends, I hope I’ll see you there!
Come hear symphonic masterpieces surrounded by the majesty of Nature.
