The Shopping Mecca of Vermont?
Have you toured around downtown White River Jct. lately? Well I have to confess I haven't and recently I took camera in hand and did a walking tour for the Upper Valley Mirror. I came away amazed by what I saw!!
Downtown White River Jct. is currently going through a cultural transition that has transformed the village known for being the railroad center of Vermont, into a mecca for shoppers seeking unique boutiques and fine dining establishments. I recall the days gone by when the Chamber of Commerce used the slogan "Shop Downtown Beautiful White River!"
That still holds true, but recently the downtown has morphed into a paradise of fine boutiques and fine dining establishments. During my walking tour I was able to capture some of these sights, but many were missed. Now factor all the new buildings and a new theater district into the equation and you have a downtown that can rival Church Street in Burlington, VT.
Don't take my word for it. Check out the photos and then take your own tour. Here are just a few offerings. Enjoy. What did I miss?
