The Vershire Women's Wellness Circle is holding a Chinese (Lunar) New Year celebration again this year. There will be several dishes that were made in cooking classes and by Joyce and Marissa Mazzucco, however we are asking that if you have a favorite Asian or Lunar inspired dish to please bring some to share.
Though most think of the New Year as only one day, is traditionally 2 weeks of celebration ending in the Lantern festival. This year it started on Feb. 16th. Marissa will tell the story of the creation of the Chinese Zodiac and share some symbolic meanings behind some of the food and traditions, There will be horoscopes for the year of the Earth dog for you to take home. There will be some kids activities and origami Earth instructions so you can create your own lucky dog for the year.
Do you have a tradition based around the Lunar New Year? Please come and share yours as well.
Help create Vershire's evolving Lunar celebration.
Though this is a Free public event, donations towards cost of the food would be greatly appreciated.
