Hartford Boys win 2nd in a row
By John Seaver
For the second time in three nights the Hartford boys relied on defense, a solid rebounding effort and some timely three point shooting to defeat Bellows Falls, this time 55-36 on the Terriers home court.
And for the second time in 3 nights Hartford opened up a big lead, 41-20, at the end of three quarters.
Pat Brady paced the team early with 7 of his 15 points in the opening quarter with several nice drives to the hoop, the last one converting a free throw for the traditional three point play. Hunter Gaudette took over next making 3 from deep and scoring 9 of his game high 19 points in the second quarter. Hunter Perkins and Alex Valley chipped in 8 points each with Valley leading the team with 12 rebounds.
Coach Steve Landon was pleased with the results "We did some good things tonight moving the ball. Tough to play a team back to back with no prep. Pat Brady and Alex Valley had very solid games on both ends of the floor." But cautioned Landon "We need to get better protecting the ball moving into the next part of our schedule."
Bellows Falls was led by their lone senior Shane Clark who had 16 points. The loss drops the young Terriers to 3-9 on the season. The win improves the Canes record to 5-8 but the schedule gets much tougher as they head to Lyndon Saturday to play the Vikings who carry a 10-2 record after moving to D-1 this season.
Category 5 Hurricane Player of the Game: Senior forward Pat Brady. Brady helped get the Canes off to a fast start scoring 7 of his 15 points in the first quarter and playing solid defense all game.
