A little something for everyone: three new book groups are meeting at the Norwich Public Library this month.

Parent-Child Book Group

Saturday, February 10th at 1:00 pm

Monthly book group for readers in grades 4-6 and their parents. This month’s book is Eggs
by Jerry Spinelli, a quirky and moving novel about two very complicated
children. They forge a tight yet tumultuous friendship, eventually
helping each other deal with what is missing in their lives.

Books are available through the library to library cardholders or OneCard holders, or from the Norwich Bookstore at a 20% discount. Questions? Email Children’s Librarian Beth Reynolds.

Novel Medicine

Wednesdays, February 14th & 28th, at 12:00 pm

After Jill Bolte Taylor, a Harvard-trained brain scientist,
experienced a massive stroke in the left hemisphere of her brain, she
observed her mind deteriorate to the point that she could not walk,
talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. It would take her eight
years to fully recover.

For Taylor, her stroke was a blessing and a revelation. Her account provides
a valuable recovery guide for those affected by brain injury and an
inspiring testimony that inner peace is accessible to anyone.

Books are available on loan from the library in advance to library cardholders or OneCard holders. Discussions
are moderated by Dartmouth Health Connect Health Coach Lisa Low Cadow.
Dr. Laura Duncan will be present at one of the discussions.

Moby-Dick

Mondays, February 19th, March 5th, March 19th, and April 9th, at 7:00 pm

Four-part discussion of Herman Melville’s classic novel, led by
Dartmouth professor of English Suzanne Brown. Books are available on
loan in advance at the library circulation desk--no library card is needed. A Vermont Humanities
Council series hosted by the Friends of Norwich Public Library.
