I’m a baker, one-time prospective art student, and business owner living and working in Woodstock, VT. The Upper Valley is where I was lucky enough to be born, raised, and educated.
After getting a degree in Baking & Pastry from New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT, I landed back home, in Quechee, unsure of what was next. A brief stint of post-grad, “what the heck am I doing?”, found me baking and decorating cookies and cakes for friends, and, well, it hasn’t really stopped since. What I once used as a creative outlet while I figured life out, soon became a business and the most fun adventure I’ve had the pleasure of being on.
mc confections is still that creative outlet. It’s just that, now, it’s one where I get to collaborate with old friends, casual acquaintances, and new faces in the Upper Valley. Together, we create one-of-a-kind designs to turn into unforgettable cakes, cookies, and confections with the sole intention of making somebody’s day.
I love it.
Beyond baking, art and design will always be near and dear. Thankfully, the translation from paints, to royal icing and buttercream, is rather harmonious. Being that my life is making temporary, edible (see also: temporarily edible), sculptures, I document everything and I have the hard drive(s) to prove it. All photography you’ll see is my own- captured while chasing good light around my apartment.
The intention of this space is to share latest projects, occasional recipes, as well as baking pointers and tricks that I need to impart on SOMEONE while it’s still fresh. Mostly, though, I’m just trying to make someone’s day with a whole lot of sugar.
