Foul play is not suspected but cause of death is unclear
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION - A Hartford woman in her mid-40s was discovered dead first thing Monday morning in a friend's room at the Shady Lawn Motel prompting an "untimely death investigation" by the Hartford Police Department.
The name of the woman, whom friends said had recently been released from jail, was not immediately made public Monday morning due to on-going notifications of next of kin.
Firefighters and police responded to the motel at the edge of the downtown just before 7 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting an unresponsive woman in one of the rooms.
"There doesn't appear to be foul play or any suspicious circumstances," Hartford Deputy Police Chief Brad Vail said Monday morning, adding "Honestly at this point it's not known if any substance abuse is involved."
UPDATE: Hartford Police released the name of the deceased woman on Tuesday. She is Andrea Pierce, 42, a long-time resident of Hartford. Deputy Chief Vail said investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy that is being carried out in Burlington. "There is nothing new on the cause of death," Vail said Tuesday, "It's still under investigation."
