Mascoma Royals fans have been to towns near and far to support the girls field hockey team and the boys soccer team in their NHIAA D3 playoff appearances. The Mascoma soccer team lost their battle with Belmont on Thursday night in the rain at Laconia's turf field, but the field hockey team pulled off yet another upset in the semi-finals and will be playing for the first field hockey state championship since before the current team was born! (1998, in case you wondered)
Many of the players from these Mascoma teams will be at the high school on Saturday, October 28 to give back to the community with the 2nd Annual "Stuff the Bus" food drive. Stop by the lower parking lot at Mascoma Valley Regional High School to stuff the school bus on October 28th from 10 AM to 3 PM. The items collected will benefit local food pantries in the Mascoma district, including the Friends of Mascoma food pantry located at the high school. This event is sponsored by the MVRHS Class of 2018 and National Honor Society.
On the food pantry wish list:
Peanut Butter, Macaroni and Cheese, Canned Vegetables, Canned Fruit, Cereal, Healthy Snacks, Stove Top Stuffing, Instant Mashed Potatoes, Spaghetti Sauce, Pasta, Toiletries, Dish Detergent.
It should take just a couple of minutes to drive up, have a student volunteer help to move your items from your car to the bus, and then you are free to go about your day! You may want to stay at Mascoma however and attend the senior football game vs Fall Mountain at 2 PM.
After you help to stuff the bus with food on Saturday, you can get on one more bus on Sunday, October 29 - the fan bus to cheer on the Lady Royals in their state championship bid!
The bus is free (thanks to Butler Bus Service) and open to the community. It will leave the high school at the same time as the players before the 2:30 PM game in Bedford (anticipated departure is 12 PM, and the anticipated return is 6 PM). There is no charge to ride the school bus for fans, but there are a limited number of seats so please arrive early enough to claim one
. The first 60 or so fans will be able to catch this free ride. You will want to bring along some money, as you will need to purchase your ticket to get into the game and may want food from the concession stand. Tickets
are $5 for students and seniors (65+) and $7 per adult. If you decide to drive to Bedford High School, you can find driving directions here
Let's fill the stands with purple and cheer on the underdog for one more game this fall. Good luck Mascoma Royals!
