Coming up on July 7, the next First Friday in WRJ, will be Martha Stevenson's art show opening of folk art paintings on our Artist of the Month gallery wall. This will be an exciting addition to our downtown White River Junction gallery space. Martha is particularly well known for her Rufus Porter reproductions of murals found around New England. Everything she paints seems to find a welcome spot in any home. Martha's work will show July 7 through August 31, after which some of her work will remain in the gallery given her status as a juried Long River artist of many years. We hope you'll add this opening to your calendar of events and join us on First Friday evening, July 7. This opening is part of the Vermont Arts 2017 calendar of events. MARTHA STEVENSON, ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Londonderry, VT. My goal in painting is to bring happiness to people. If I can bring a smile to someone’s face, then I have accomplished my goal. I am inspired by the beauty of Vermont – the landscape, the mountains, the historic buildings, the quaint villages and farms, and the animals, wild and domestic – all of which I include in my paintings and house portraits.
