There’s beauty poking through the snow
Every year in mid-winter, Ginny Kiely, a long time Quechee Garden Club member, and wildflower enthusiast, leads a group of intrepid Garden Club members on an expedition through the “wilds” of Quechee. “It is amazing what you can find hidden in the snow,” says Ginny, “pods, dried stalks and leaves, weeds… I love weeds, even burrs.” With the belief that there is beauty poking through the snow, the explorers do a “walkabout” and collect all manner of natural paraphernalia and then proceed to The Quechee Club Base Lodge to make artistic creations of their “treasures.”

“It is a magic time of fun, creativity, and camaraderie,” says Ginny.
Ginny’s love of nature was instilled by her mother who took her on “walkabouts” to inspect all aspects of nature. She passed this activity and passion on to her children, and she continues to inspire the members of the Quechee Garden Club with her enthusiasm for all things nature.
