Calling all book lovers!
The Five Colleges Book Sale is a wondrous event. This year it's April 20 and 21, at Lebanon High School. You will find thousands and thousands of books on any subject you can think of: anime, military history, science, foreign language, children's, and of course all varieties of fiction.
I have been volunteering for this for several years and for a bibliophile like me, it's a wonderful experience. It's not that I need any more books; my husband and I have in our house a few thousand already. (We do try to pass a few along every year before the sale.) But I love seeing them all and finding things I didn't know I wanted to read. I even love handling them. You can probably guess that I grew up before the digital age.
In particular, I enjoy discovering old books. I saw Emily Post's etiquette book, with instructions on how to give out calling cards, and Harper's Magazine from the late 1800s. I even found a book with records noted by one of my ancestors who had served in Congress. What are the chances?
More on this as the sale approaches.
