White River man allegedly tried to arrange a sexual encounter with a juvenile in Lebanon

LEBANON - A White River Junction man was arrested Tuesday after Lebanon Police said he showed up in their town allegedly expecting to meet a juvenile who was willing to engage in sexual acts.

    Lebanon Police Chief Richard Mello said in a press release that his department's Cyber Crimes Unit has been conducting an on-going series of investigations through a "social media provider" targeting individuals who appear to be seeking to victimize children.

    "Lebanon Police officers engaged in a conversation via social media with a male who was later identified as David Hunt Sr., 47, of White River Junction," the release stated adding, "This investigation led to Hunt arriving in Lebanon on March 5th to meet a person, that he thought was a juvenile, for sexual acts."
    Hunt was taken into custody and charged with felony counts of prohibited uses of computer services and attempted felonious sexual assault.
    Hunt was due to appear Wednesday afternoon in the Grafton County Superior Court  to answer the charges.
