LEBANON - A Windsor, Vermont man who police say was on his way to meet what he thought was going to be a juvenile at a local park, allegedly for the purpose of engaging in sexual acts, was arrested in a sting operation that took place Friday in Lebanon.
Jason Bessent, 37, of Windsor was taken into custody and charged with felony counts of prohibited uses of computer services and attempted felonious sexual assault. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of attempted sexual assault. Bessent is due in Grafton Superior Court this afternoon to answer the charges.
Lebanon Police said Monday that their department's Cyber Crimes Unit, which is an affiliate of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, has been conducting an investigation through a social media provider targeting individuals who were seeking to victimize children.
