Richmond police dispute: Selectmen acknowledge calculation error

The town’s selectmen acknowledged on Monday that they’d incorrectly calculated figures related to the police department’s coverage hours, after the officer in charge of that department accused them of spreading “misleading information.”

Richmond selectmen have proposed disbanding the police department and instead contracting with the Cheshire County Sheriff’s Office for police coverage. They have argued that the move would save the town money, while providing coverage that doesn’t fluctuate based on turnover.

But Lt. Andrew Wood, the part-time officer in charge, pushed back on those efforts in a six page statement he posted Thursday to the Richmond Police Department’s Facebook page....
