Starting in February, Upper Valley Aquatic Center will Offer WATERinMOTION® and WATERinMOTION® Platinum Group Fitness Classes (for members 65 and older). These group aquatic workouts will give members the opportunity to get in shape in an upbeat and social atmosphere.
A national program with a 30-year track record of success, WATERinMOTION® provides a low impact, high-energy challenge for participants of all ages, skills, and fitness levels. In a 55-minute class, participants will gain cardiovascular benefits while they tone muscles. With uplifting music and motivating trainers, though, Water in Motion will not feel like work. In addition, the program’s music and choreography will be updated every three months to keep members engaged.
According to personal trainer Erin Buck, Water in Motion requires little or no prior experience for participants to feel comfortable and have a positive exercise experience, “It is perfect for anyone who has been given the go-ahead from a physician after an injury or to start a workout regimen for the first time,” she says. "It is also ideal for a land-based exerciser who wants to cross-train in a lower impact environment. It’s a high-intensity workout that’s gentle, as well.”
Older adults can work out alongside younger participants. Water in Motion’s music is technologically mixed so everyone can follow along at his or her own speed, and the class’s structure makes participation easy. Buck: “Members crave structure in their fitness and that is what they will get with Water in Motion . Music track 1 is always a warmup, track 2 is always linear, track 3 is always lateral, and so on. Participants will know what to expect.”
