It’s a long, cold winter, the kind where the wind freezes your face, painfully and without surprise. Cabin fever has set in but the responsibilities of daily life, like getting haircuts, don’t disappear when the temperature plunges and the ice is stubbornly underfoot. We pried ourselves from the couch and headed for Sherri’s Headquarters in South Royalton for the required grooming rituals. Then we happened by Chef Brad’s Crazy Side just off of Route 4 in Quechee VT. Ah, the soup!
New England clam chowder and cheesy cauliflower, to be exact. Fresh and flavorful and served in a glass mug, warm to the touch and taste. Shrimp and pork tacos in fresh corn or flour tortillas. Sandwiches aplenty and the daily quiche with salad. Homemade maple flan, which I regretfully declined. Relaxed vibe. Order at the counter, watch while chef Brad produces your lunch in a sliver of a kitchen, grab a table upstairs or down.
It’s high-quality, delicious food by a talented chef at just-above fast food prices. Did I mention the tropically-tinged decor? Comfort in these frigid times.
