Tom Evans and Shawn Hickey have sponsored the COVER Home
Repair Ramps & Roofs fund for the second year in a row. Their support makes it possible for COVER to
buy building materials to perform urgent home repairs for low income families, elderly,
and homeowners using a wheel chair or walker for mobility. Qualified repairs include accessibility ramps,
roof replacements, grab bars, smoke detectors, floor and stair repairs and air
sealing of cold air drafts.
“We like that fact that COVER organizes volunteers to do the work which is supervised by COVER’s professional staff. It’s neighbors helping neighbors in need,” according to Tom and Shawn.
The Byrne Foundation helped launch the Ramps & Roofs fund two years ago and has been a longtime supporter of COVER, a 20-year old non-profit organization. COVER’s goal is to make homes safe, warm, dry, and energy efficient throughout the Upper Valley.
