Death of a patient Sunday at DHMC prompts an investigation by the state's Major Crime Unit

LEBANON - Some suspicious circumstances surrounding the death Sunday of a woman who was being treated at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center have prompted Lebanon Police to call in investigative assistance from the state, New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon MacDonald, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Christopher Wagner, and Lebanon Police Chief Richard Mello announced on Monday.

    Police said the woman died yesterday at DHMC where she was receiving medical attention.

    An autopsy was set to be performed Monday by the New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Concord and officials said information about the results of that autopsy and the deceased’s identity will be released as soon as possible.

    Police said there is no evidence to suggest a threat to the general public.
