House Bill 57 (H.57), "An act relating to preserving the right to abortion" was introduced in the Vermont House on January 22, 2019. It was read the first time and then referred to the Committee on Human Services. Additional sponsors of the Bill include our State Reps Jim Masland and Tim Briglin.
(a) Every individual has the fundamental right to choose or refuse
contraception or sterilization.
(b) Every individual who becomes pregnant has the fundamental right to
choose to carry a pregnancy to term, give birth to a child, or to have an abortion.
(c) A fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus shall not have independent rights under Vermont law.
