On Friday, February 8th, hundreds of women and men will unite to prevent heart disease and stroke in women at the American Heart Association’s Upper Valley Go Red for Women® Luncheon at the Hanover Inn Dartmouth. Attendees will enjoy a day filled with inspiration, networking, education, and hope to help women prevent or survive heart disease and stroke – the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 leading causes of death in women.
According to the American Heart Association, the more a woman knows about heart disease, the better chance she has of beating it. Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year – more than all forms of cancer combined. Fortunately, 80 percent of cardiac and stroke events may be prevented by understanding your family health history, knowing your health numbers and making simple lifestyle changes.
