Trooper Sean Brennan said police were called to the parking lot of Whites Market on Memorial Drive in Lydon at around 9:30 p.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle with the driver apparently passed out behind the wheel.

When troopers arrived and made contact with Jerry Ellis Jr., 26, of Windsor he reportedly "became irate and started yelling" and then he allegedly assaulted one of the troopers when they moved to take him into custody.

Ellis was then transported to the St. Johnsbury state police barracks where he was processed and then lodged in the Newport jail for lack of $2,500 bail pending an arraignment that was scheduled to take place Friday afternoon at the Caledonia County Courthouse.
