A conversation with Forrest MacGregor

A bunch of stuff is happening at the Korongo Writers Studio in Randolph this month and next—a free workshop (details to follow), a move to a new location, a rollout of some new programs. But before we get into all that, I would just like to take a minute to discuss fashion. Most people in Randolph know Forrest MacGregor, the author of the text messages shown here, as a jack-of-all-trades, a Mr. Fixit for the New Millennium, and a star of Trivia Night. It is in the last capacity—as a collector of mostly useless information—that Mr. MacGregor sent me the first text (above) late yesterday, after normal business hours. Early this morning, I received his follow-up text, shown below. I share the full exchange not only to impress you with my mastery of the iPhone 6s screenshot but also to remind us all of the perilous fluidity of social norms.

What does this have to do with writing? Only everything, if you believe, as I do, that a writer is someone who questions social norms more or less constantly. Follow this blog and/or join our mailing list at Korongobooks.com if you would like updates on our free workshops and other writing programs.
