A huge effort by so many makes this event possible

Next week is a busy one for some Norwich residents who will be participating in this year's Christmas Revels. I reached out to Brian Cook and asked him to send me a list and also stated that I wanted to do a story on their participation and provide my readers with some information on the Revels event.

The Christmas Revels, a beloved Upper Valley tradition for the whole family, is presented annually by Revels North at the Hopkins Center at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. We celebrate the holiday season and the turning of the year with glorious carols, festive dance, and traditions that span the centuries and the globe. Recent performances have featured the stories, music and traditions of the Québécois, Ireland, Appalachia, and England.

The Christmas Revels would not be possible without the participation of dozens of children, teens, and adults who take on acting roles, join the chorus, and volunteer with costuming, makeup and hair styling. Auditions for the Christmas Revels will take place in late spring; rehearsal begin in September.

It’s the height of the Renaissance, and the vibrant city of Venice is bursting with excitement! East meets West in this maritime hub, where merchants and craftsmen ply their trade alongside some of the Old World’s greatest (and not-so-great) artists and musicians. Overseeing all of this hustle and bustle is the overworked city official, the Doge.

La Vigilia di Natale, Christmas Eve, is fast approaching. The Doge, overwhelmed with governing the city and organizing its Feast of the Seven Fishes, has lost perspective. Will a tatty troupe of comedians, fresh off an unsuccessful European tour, remind the Doge to embrace the magic of his city at this most festive time of the year?
