Passengers seriously injured when van rolls over on Interstate 89 southeast of New London
SUTTON, NH - Speed appears to have been a factor in a rollover accident first thing this morning on Interstate 89 near Exit 10 that sent several passengers who were traveling in a utility van to the hospital, police are reporting.
Authorities didn't specify how many people were in the white Chevy Express van which was being driven by John Cruz Aquaiza, 46, of Milford, Massachusetts but the most seriously injured passenger was airlifted off the highway by a DHART medical helicopter shortly after the 7 a.m. crash occurred.
Police said Aquaiza, who sustained only minor injuries while all of his passengers were seriously hurt, appeared to have lost control of the van while headed north. It entered the median and began to rotate before rolling over onto the passenger side when it reached the woodline, police said.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is being asked to contact New Hampshire State Police Trooper Eric Mercer at (603) 223-4381 or via email at Eric.Mercer@dos.nh.gov
