Good Neighbor Health Clinics awarded $50,000

The employees of the White Mountain Insurance Group, after diligent research, in-person discussion, and an on-site visit to their facilities, have presented the Good Neighbor Health and Red Logan Dental Centers with White Mountains’ first ever Giving Program award of $ 50,00.00. White Mountains’ representatives were impressed by the programs they found and the care Good Neighbor gives to the residents our area. In an official statement, they said, “White Mountains is delighted to support such a dedicated group of professionals offering this critical service to the Upper Valley community.”

For more than a quarter of a century, the Good Neighbor Health and Red Logan Dental Clinics have promoted health and provided free primary medical and dental care to those in the Upper Valley community who are in need but lack the means to pay.  Long time Clinic volunteer Dr. John Sanders said, “It is wonderful to have one of our outstanding Upper Valley businesses empower its employees to direct funds to a charitable organization of their own choosing.  That is exactly what White Mountains did, and we are honored to be the recipient.  It is a great model for other organizations to follow.” With the gift from White Mountains, the Clinics will seek to expand and enhance the services already provided, while increasing their visibility in the community and leverage that financial support by securing matching pledges from other area businesses.

Taken together, the Clinics saw 1,349 distinct patients and provided 3,142 office visits last year. The Dental Clinic treated 823 unique patients; half of all patients are new to the Clinics each year. Patients are without other medical and dental homes and 75% of dental patients and 68% of medical patients reported that they have delayed seeking care due to affordability or lack of access. The value of dental care provided was $698,034 last year and due to improved operational efficiency the number of patient visits increased by 30%. And, all that was accomplished through the services of dedicated volunteer professionals, dental and medical externs from northern New England universities, community volunteers, and an experienced staff.

The Good Neighbor Health and Red Logan Dental Clinics are proud to serve a community which includes such socially conscious businesses as the White Mountain Insurance Group and asks all to join in thanking them for this timely support of medical and dental care in the Upper Valley Community.
