Ceres Is Now Atop the Vermont Statehouse: And There’s Video
Stop what you’re doing to take a peek at a video posted on the Vermont Agency of Agriculture’s Facebook page. The new statue of Ceres, Goddess of Agriculture, (a replacement of the damaged old one) has just flown through the air. Earlier this afternoon, she departed the crowds gathered on the statehouse grounds and landed on her permanent perch atop the capitol’s golden dome. Live video (very cool, which you can find by clicking here) captured the entire event.
Ceres is 14’ 7” and weighs almost 4,000 pounds. The former version was removed last spring. This current Ceres is by sculptor Chris Miller of Calais, Vermont.
