Norwich, VT has an immediate opening for an Equipment Operator. Under the direction of the DPW Director, this is a full-time position, in a team-oriented environment, responsible for care of the town’s roadways and related infrastructure. Duties require the operation of heavy equipment, working in various working conditions including poor weather, and other typical duties related to municipal public works functions.

Minimum qualifications: high school diploma, valid VT driver’s license for the type of vehicle/equipment operated including a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and its requirements (e.g., random drug & alcohol testing). Other public works experience may be considered in lieu of the minimum qualifications. This is a union position once a probationary period is passed. Due to the frequent interaction with the public at-large and the position’s teamwork approach, quality “customer service” skills are important for this position. Hourly wage begins at (Grade 12, Step A) $18.83 with excellent benefits.
