Truck driver ticketed for speeding following rollover on Interstate 89 in Royalton
ROYALTON - A truck driver who emerged unhurt after his big rig ended up splayed clear across the median of Interstate 89 late Friday morning has been issued a ticket for traveling too fast given the road conditions.
Several Vermont State Police troopers responded to Mile Marker 18 Southbound along with volunteers from South Royalton Fire and South Royalton Rescue and found the 2016 Freightliner resting on its damaged right side.
Driver Shamal Brown, 24, of Hagerstown, Maryland had been headed south and was wearing his seatbelt when he lost control and slid out of the righthand lane, police said, noting that both speed and the falling snow at the time were factors in the crash.
Other significant accidents across the region during Friday morning's foul weather included a propane truck rollover in Halifax, Vermont; a large pickup truck hauling a trailer that rolled over in Dummerston, Vermont; and a small state plow truck that was involved in a head-on collision on Route 118 in Dorchester, New Hampshire.
