ECFiber Coming to Hartford!
Jericho Neighborhood will be part of 2019 build out
ECFiber is coming to the Jericho area late next year. Jericho is one of the few neighborhoods in town that doesn't have cable, and ECFiber's mission is to bring fiber-optic based high speed Internet to unserved areas of its 24 member towns. Hartford does have cable Internet widely available, so we have been watching from the sidelines, but starting next year we will be part of the game at long last.
Hartford originally voted to form ECFiber with several surrounding towns at the 2008 Town Meeting (Article 11). ECFiber is presently on course to finish building out approximately 1400 miles of network in all areas except Woodstock Village, Montpelier, and Hartford by 2022.
As Hartford's delegate to the ECFiber board I have been urging the complete design of the Hartford network be done during 2019, and that we prioritize bringing ECFiber to our TIF district (WRJ downtown) as another building block for this critical area of economic development.
