Zack's Place is an inclusive, free enrichment center whose mission is to empower special-needs people of all ages to express themselves through art, music, dance, literacy, athletics, and fitness while developing bonds of friendship. ( ZP Hisotry )
The Turkey Trot is one of many annual fundraisers that Zack's Place hosts. The first Turkey Trot hosted 200 people in 2007 and the tenth annual race in 2017 hosted over 1600 people. The proceeds from this race are dedicated to the operational costs of the organization. Zack's Place stays open from funding through donations, grants, and fundraisers. ( About Turkey Trot )
The 5-K starts at the Woodstock Elementary School, then heads by the famous Woodstock Inn, through the historic and shopping town center, across the Elm Street Bridge, out next to Billings Farm and Rockefeller Mansion, along River Street, and down Mountain Avenue, by Faulkner Park and Faulker Mansion, back around and along River St. going pass the Middle Bridge, back through downtown along Elm Street, around the far side of The Green and back to the finish line at the Elementary School. The race is primarily on level pavement, with a slight incline along Route 12. There is a short stretch on Mountain Ave. where the road is gravel. All ages and abilities are capable of participating in this race. The race begins at 10:00 AM.
