Thetford Police said that Robert Southworth, 62, of West Fairlee had been traveling east when he lost control of his 2018 Dodge Ram pickup.

Southworth was not hurt in the mishap, which happened at approximately 5 p.m., and no charges have been filed at this time.

The crash damaged numerous gravestones, as well as the cemetery fence and another fence belonging to the adjacent Thetford Volunteer Fire Department.
Southworth’s pickup sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

Police said they expect that Southworth's insurance will cover damages to any property involved.

Thetford Police are working with the Post Mills Cemetery Association to identify families of those with damaged monuments in order to assist in facilitating repairs.  Families affected can contact Officer Michael Scruggs at the Thetford Police Department at (802)785-4608 or via email at Michael.Scruggs@Vermont.gov
