Revolution Cantina is amazing!
Several months ago a friend of mine mentioned Revolution Cantina in Claremont. On a whim, I looked up their menu, called my spouse, and made plans to go that night.
We've now been back four times. I would go more if it were closer, and calorie-free.
Something to know, I love to try new and different foods and RARELY order the same thing each time at a restaurant. Here, I can't help myself. It's the Yardbirds each time. It's so amazing I am afraid to miss out on it.
What's so special?
The Yardbirds entree consists of two jalapeño risotto cakes topped with chicken breast, melted Monterey Jack cheese, and the most UNBELIEVABLE tomatillo ranch cream sauce.
This sauce is so good that many family members all order a side of it to go with whatever they order- burrito, Mexican Street Fight (steak, chicken, chorizo, paprika cream sauce rice- yum!), or nachos. It's kind of like butter, or maybe salt, it just makes everything better, but more so.
What else to try?
Hands down- order the nachos AKA Gringo Chips. Add in the beef, different than the steak. Our second trip we ordered the steak. Still good so you won't go wrong, don't worry. But the beef must be slow-simmered in a seasoned, spicy broth (not "hot" spicy) because it's so moist and flavorful. They top a massive pile of nachos with this shredded beef and it puts it over the top. I would order this as a meal, except I must have the Yardbirds also
I stole some bites of the Mexican Street Fight from a family member. Delicious! The rice and chicken I tasted also had more flavor than expected. Clearly cooked in seasoning, the flavors penetrated each bite.
Gringo Chips with beef
On the last trip, someone in our group couldn't make it and asked for the nachos to go (with beef of course). I was truly impressed with the take-out order. The chips were topped with toasty melted cheese and all other toppings were in separate containers to keep the chips crispy. After a nearly 40 minute ride home and some assembly we had a fresh meal. Great job Revolution Cantina!
