Worth Knowing: Go on one of several guided (or self-guided) foliage tours in Woodstock this weekend - easy, medium and hearty hikes

With colorful leaves transforming Woodstock’s woodlands, it’s the perfect time of year to lace up your boots and hit the trail.  The seventh annual Peak to Peak event invites locals and visitors alike to explore the walking paths of Woodstock, VT on Saturday, October 13, from 10 am until 2:30 pm. Enjoy guided hikes to Mount Peg and Mount Tom from the Village Green, or take a wander through water features and woods to the Pogue from the Carriage Barn Visitor Center at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller NHP. Snacks and art activities at every peak!  Great for all ages.

Here's a complete list of the guided hikes:

Peak to Peak to Pogue Challenge: Summit Mt. Tom, Mt. Peg and loop around the Pogue. Bring a lunch to fuel your journey. Departs Village Green 10 a.m. This is a HEARTY hike: 7 miles roundtrip.

Mt. Peg History Hike: Explore the landscape history of Mt. Peg with a local historian, with special focus on the golf course that used to occupy its slopes. Departs Village Green 10:30 a.m. This is an EASY hike: 1.5 miles roundtrip.

Mt. Tom Hike Foliage Hike: Hike the historic Faulkner Trail to South Peak for a birds-eye view of the town of Woodstock. A scenic uphill trek for hikers of all ages. Departs Village Green 10:30 a.m. This is a MODERATE hike: 3.5 miles roundtrip.

Water Wanderings: Meet at the Carriage Barn Visitor Center for an exploration of natural and human-made water features from garden fountains to babbling brooks, culminating with a snack stop at the Pogue. Departs MBR National Park 11a.m. This is a MODERATE hike: 3.0 miles roundtrip.

Mt. Peg Hike Family Foliage Hike: Climb the gentle slopes of Mt. Peg for a fantastic panoramic view of the vibrant hillsides on this family-friendly walk. Departs Village Green 1:00 p.m. This is an EASY hike: 1.5 miles roundtrip.
