Upcycling Classes at the SEW-OP: MENDING, BASIC SEWING, CLOTH NAPKINS, WOOL APPLIQUE

Mending: Saturday, October 13, 9am-11am. Shrink your mending pile and grow your wearable wardrobe! In this two-hour workshop, you will create an embroidered needle case while learning hand-sewing stitches and basic mending skills. This is primarily a general skills class but feel free to bring items that you need help mending. Make Your Own Cloth Napkins: Sunday, October 14th, 10am-12pm. Save money and trees by sewing your own cloth napkins! You can practice your basic sewing skills while making a set of cloth napkins suitable for special or every day use. Registration required: $20 for members, $25 for non-members. Basic Sewing Intensive: Sundays, Oct. 28th and Nov. 11th. 12-4pm. In this two-part class, learn the basics of sewing while making a tote bag. Your bag will have you practicing wider and narrower seam allowances, top-stitching, straight and curved seam lines, and hand basting. Registration Required: $40 for members, $45 for non-members. Class limited to four students, ages 14 and up. Three student minimum to hold a class. Registration closes 48 hours prior to the start of class. Wool Applique: Saturday, October 27th, 9am-12pm.  Discover what's to love about appliqué in this beginner lesson! Appliqué with felted wool is fast, easy and portable. It's makes a lovely stand-alone project and it's a beautiful way to embellish quilted projects. In this class, you'll learn the basics of wool appliqué while making a small, square wool appliqué project that can be framed or finished as a pillow or however you choose. Registration required: $30 for members, $35 for non-members. Class limited to six students, ages 14 and up. Three person minimum sign-up to hold this class.
