I never knew he was a photograher

I thought I would do a story on Norwich residents who have a story to tell. I recently met with Richard Neugass who seemed interested in this idea. I serve with Richard on several committees so reaching out to him was easy. I thought I knew him pretty well , but I didn't know that:  Richard is an accomplished amateur photographer.  His images have a common theme, “Take A Closer Look,” which illuminate the beauty of fine detail that is often missed in peoples’ perceptions.

A few samples are attached in this story:

Nice colors

Another beauty

I think I will just sit here and yarn

Here is his story:

Richard is 72 years young

Moved from Washington, D.C. in 2009 to Norwich, VT

Married to Corlan Johnson, 2013

Two sons, one living in Alexandria, VA and one in Oakland, CA.  One step-daughter living in Thetford, with 3 children

To facilitate my integration into the Upper Valley world and meet new friends I joined several organizations:

Norwich Lions Club – great way to be introduced to organizations and people who are active in the community.  This involvement led to my co-leading the revival of the Norwich Parade in 2017.

OSHER@Dartmouth (formerly ILEAD) – member of Marketing Committee.  I’m a great believer in opening oneself to new experiences in a broad range of topics; OSHER@Dartmouth provides that capability.

Norwich American Legion – Ever thankful to the VA for treating me in 2010 for a brain tumor, I joined the Legion soon after and have served as head of PR.

Current work – own a small business, Caught on Tape, which provides video production services, including video memoirs and conversions of analog media to digital formats.
