The Gaga Pit is a combination of an idea from last winter's School Culture Team and support from the PTO through the Box Tops program.

As I was leaving Marion Cross School the other day I noticed principal  Bill Hammond was looking over this structure that was installed recently near the main entrance to the school. I asked Mr. Bill to explain what it was and encouraged him to enter the pit for a pose. Below are the instructions for this game.

It is pretty popular already and there is usually a line of schoolchildren waiting to play it.

Stop by and check it out.

Regular Gaga Rules:

(a)       All players touch the wall when the game starts.

(b)       The ball is thrown up in the air and bounces twice before starting.

(c)        Players may hit the ball only once unless it hits a player or wall.

(d)      If you're hit between the knee and foot, you're out.

(e)       If you hit the ball out of the Gaga Pit, you're out.

(f)Enter and exit only by the lower wall.

Type of Gaga:

We'll play Rotation until we hone the rules. Twelve may start in the pit. If others wish to play, a line is formed outside the pit (similar to Four Square). When one player gets knocked out, the next in line can step into the pit to play, retaining twelve players on the court. Play continues until recess ends.
