The film follows the goings on in a single Brooklyn block over the course of a single, sweltering summer day, from a morning of tension simmering around a white-owned pizzeria, to a night of violence. This provocative film teems with life, thanks to an extraordinary ensemble cast (including Samuel L. Jackson, John Turturro, Ruby Dee and Roger Guenveur Smith) and a soundtrack that brings together hip hop, jazz and R&B.
