Got plans for Labor Day? Start it with the road race!
I came across Norwich Rec Director Jill Kearney in the lower level of Tracy Hall this afternoon, down on her hands and knees. It looked like she was playing solo Scrabble.
Wrong! It turned out she was laying out the lettering for a sign reminding folks of the 34th annual Labor Day Road Race set for Monday morning. So I figured I'd do my part and help remind people about it too.
Here are the details:
-- Registration is on the Norwich Green and runs from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning, Sept. 3.
-- The 2.2 mile run -- perfect for families and first-timers -- begins at 9 on the Green, and ends there too.
-- The 10k run begins at 9:05 a.m., and also starts and ends on the Green. Don't be intimidated; it's for beginners as well as seasoned runners.
-- Non-residents are welcome.
-- The cost is $2 for anyone under 10, and $5 for anyone 11 and up. It's $10 for a family.
-- There are prizes in both races.
-- There are post-race refreshments for all runners.
-- It's chill. As in: "No hassles. No crowds. No unneeded T-shirts."
-- You can download the registration form here, or just complete it during the registration period on Monday.
