It's getting to be the time of year when you really ought to give your oil burning heating system a tuneup. After all, although this week is forecast to be a steamer, cooler days lie ahead. So what does it cost to get your oil burning furnace tuned up in the Upper Valley?
We contacted a few businesses in the Upper Valley that offer this service. Most fuel companies offer heating system tuneup services, but many require you to be a fuel customer to use their services. In addition, the length of time needed to tune up your furnace will vary depending on when it was last cleaned and how up-to-date your system is. Irving Energy told us that a tuneup normally takes between 1 1/2 and 2 hours. But Dickinson & Son warned that a tuneup can take 4 or even 5 hours if your system hasn't been serviced in a long time. And here's what you'll pay:
Simple Energy ((603) 298-7200) and Dickinson & Son ((603) 643-4333) charge $95 an hour. Cota & Cota ((888) 268-2645) charges $99 an hour unless you have a service plan with them. Coming in on top (or at the bottom?) was Irving Energy, which charges $172 for the first hour and then $120 an hour.
Do you have someone you use to tune up your heating system? Please share that information, including the cost if you know it, in a comment beneath this post. Thanks.
