Racing to fund a mentoring program benefitting 4 Upper Valley schools
A dedicated team of UVers is climbing to the highest peak in Vermont this Sunday to benefit local kids. And they're asking for your support.
Todd Allen, Barbara Farnsworth, Sara Cooney, and Jean Gallagher are participating in the Race to the Top of Vermont—a long trek up Mount Mansfield itself—to raised funds for a student-mentoring program called Everybody Wins! Vermont.
Everybody Wins! Vermont places adult mentors in 25 schools throughout the state, who read one-on-one with students for one hour over lunch each week. Children learn to love reading and benefit from connecting with other community members.
The team of Allen, Farnsworth, Cooney, and Gallagher are racing on behalf of the program's continued presence at the White River School and four other Upper Valley schools, where over 100 mentors come to school every week to read with children.
And the team just announced that they've received a matching-fund guarantee from the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation, up to $15,000 raised.
If you believe in the wonderful impact of Everybody Wins! Vermont on these local kids, consider going here to donate to the cause!
