Summer's End Is A Long Way Down
There are moments that capture the timelessness, exquisite recklessness, and perfect weather of youth. I caught one as I happened through Quechee on this beautiful late August afternoon.
The context, too, is that school starts again next week. Endless summer's end, and the kids are getting in their last kicks. Or, we might assume, their last jumps from under the Quechee covered bridge.
Most who had gathered there looked on from the best seats in the house.
And I only call them daredevils who poised themselves for the long plunge down into the Ottauquechee, because you wouldn't catch me anywhere close to that incredible perch. Thankfully for the rest of us, in this case, youth has not been wasted on the youth.
Here's to the last week of freedom, kids. Wishing you the best, wherever the current takes you.
