Fred Gonet may be the only person you'll ever see riding a 1922 Harley-Davidson. Gonet owns G&G Restorations in Proctorsville, Vermont which specializes in antique and special interest vehicles.
I recently met up with Fred who was exhibiting his vintage 1922 Harley Davidson JA Police Special at the Windsor's Precisions Museum's Annual Model Engineering Show. I was impressed to find out that after world War II, Milwaukee's Harley-Davidon became the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer and dealerships in 67 countries. Most Harleys were big V-twins, as they still are. In the 1920's if you barreling along too fast in your Stutz Bearcat or Mercer Raceabout (the Vipers and Corvettes of that era) you might have gotten persued by an officer on a police Harley like the one that Gonet was exhibiting.
