Saturday in West Hartford: BBQ, a bounce house and a party to raise money for the West Hartford Library
If you and the kids are looking for a way to bounce through Saturday, you should check out the party going from 10-2 at the West Hartford Library.
Barbara Gherardi took a break from her work setting up tents beside the library Friday to give a preview of Saturday's offerings: Hamburgers and sausages on the grill, red bliss potato salad, a silent auction and celebration of reading. And that's just the start.
"There's going to be live folk music," she said. "And (drum roll please) the bounce house."
The event is part-fundraiser, part-town party at a community institution that, like many structures in the village, was badly damaged by Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. Now rebuilt, it stands gleaming beside the gently ambling White River.
Don't worry about the crowds, says Gherardi. "Look at our parking," she said, gesturing with pride to an expanse behind the library. "Plentiful parking."
