Legendary Bartender Back at PINE for Two Nights
For several years, Arkansas native James Ives presided over the bar at PINE in Hanover, serving up mixed drinks that were anything but ordinary. "I like to challenge people to think differently about what they drink,” he told an interviewer a few years ago. “The reception has been very positive.”
And how. Positive enough that although Ives has moved on, PINE is having him back for two nights, and making a big deal of it. Ives will be back behind the bar tonight, Wednesday, from 5-11 pm. Tomorrow, he'll be working with chef Justin Dain, preparing five cocktails for a reception and three-course meal -- $35 per person (excluding taxes and tips) for the reception only, $85 for both. You'll need to make reservations for that one, and can find more information here (scroll down).
Ives's signature drinks included things like the Heart of Oak, which mixed Herradura Reposado Tequila, Delirio mezcal, house-made orange-clove syrup and house-made pine bitters; and the Long Bright Dark, which he concocted from Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Crème Yvette liqueur, house-made blackberry-ginger cordial, fresh lemon juice, orange flower water and black pepper.
