Woodstock Offers a Food Extravaganza on Saturday

There's a chance of showers Saturday, but right now the forecast looks pretty good for Woodstock's annual "Taste of Woodstock" streetfest. It will be taking over Elm Street -- no cars to look out for -- from 10 am until 6 pm with activities, vendors, music, and... and... Oh right! Food! And drink.

From where, you ask?

Well. There'll be restaurants set up: both Bentley's and the Prince & the Pauper.

There'll be some small but popular local favorites, like Foster's Fine Food, Cecil Foster's catering venture, with burgers, hot dogs, sausages, fries, and fresh-squeezed lemonade; Ana's Empanadas, the highly popular market-on-the-green vendor; Naga Bakehouse, with stuffed breads; Vermont Farmstead Cheese, doing grilled cheese sandwiches and with a calf or two for company; Abracadabra Coffee; Wood's Vermont Syrup Company, Al Wood's bourbon-barrel maple syrup; and others.

And, of course, if you were doubting whether this is a golden age for small-scale Vermont distillers and alcohol-producers, you'll find plenty to drink from SILO, Mad River Distillers, Eden Ice Cider, Caledonia Spirits (that would be Barr Hill, to you aficionados), Stonecutter Spirits, and Springfield's Vermont Vines on the River.

Worth dropping by, don't you think?
