Answer life's biggest question, right outside Dan & Whit's
A triangular kiosk stands in front of Dan & Whit's, filled with whimsical, off-color and thought-provoking answers to the Big Question: What do you want to do before you die?
Here's why it's there ... and why it's leaving soon.
The kiosk is the creation of the Palliative and Hospice Care Team at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.
"It's not about death, of course," says Tim Eberhardt, a chaplain at Gifford. "It invites people to share their dreams."
The idea of such a kiosk didn't originate at Gifford, Erberhadt says. And it didn't fare very well when first displayed in downtown Randolph.
"Some of the young people thought it was a wonderful opportunity to write some awful stuff," he said.
So now it's displayed at Gifford -- and, this summer and last, outside Dan & Whit's as well. That's due to Bayada Hospice, which is right across the street.
If you haven't stopped at Dan & Whit's to add your own dream, or read those of others, you have until Aug. 15 to do so, Eberhadt said. Then the kiosk returns to Randolph as part of the Last Mile Ride fundraiser.
What will you find if you do stop by? Yesterday I found these dreams, among others:
Before I die I want to ...
- get a good night of sleep
- touch my toes (be flexible)
- hatch my unicorn egg
- arm the proletariat
- do cocaine
- eat a whole pig
- live in a place like this
- become a poet
- marry NG
What do you say, NG? What do you want to do before you die?
