BIG INK IS COMING TO TRPS! APPLY TO HAVE YOUR LARGE SCALE WOODBLOCK PRINTED ON THE BIG TUNA PRESS!
Event Synopsis: BIG INK is pleased to partner with Two Rivers Printmaking Studio for a one-day large woodcut printing community event and demonstration. We will be utilizing BIG INK's giant mobile etching press to pull prints up to 40" x 96" in dimension. You are invited to participate by carving a block and printing with us! All consumable materials including paper, ink, cleaning supplies, and equipment usage are included. All that is required from participants is to bring a fully carved block. BIG INK remains in contact with each participant providing guidance and technical support when needed. This is an excellent opportunity to meet other regional artists while working in a creatively engaging space.
About TRPS: Two Rivers Printmaking Studio supports working artists in their exploration of both traditional and experimental printmaking. Through workshops and exhibits, TRPS provides education and instruction in the art and history of the fine art print. TRPS printmaking events are led by accomplished professionals and scholars in historical, contemporary and technical areas of printmaking. TRPS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization offering membership to all interested in learning and exploring the many forms of printmaking.
About BIG INK: BIG INK's mission is to inspire a greater public appreciation for large-scale woodblock printmaking and extend its practice. BIG INK is an organized network of creative thinkers focused on promoting the art of large-scale woodblock printing. The program was started in 2012 by Directors Lyell Castonguay and Carand Burnet as a way to spread their passion for the medium with other artists and the general public. BIG INK works by establishing a temporary print shop on site at partnership organizations, most often at museums, universities, art centers, studios, and galleries. Artists are selected, either by personal invitation or through a call-for-entry process, to attend these events and print original woodblocks at least 24” x 36” in dimension. Since the program’s inception, hundreds of artists have participated in BIG INK events across the country.
