Coming In Hot! The Best French Fries in the Upper Valley
It is a truth universally acknowledged that French fries bring out the best in us. When you order a basket of fries, most likely you’re sharing them with the rest of the table. Given the option between fries and a salad as a side, your mind may be telling you to go green, but your heart is screaming for some piping-hot greasy taters. So be true to your heart. Always get the fries.
Thanks to everyone who chimed in about their favorite French fries in the Upper Valley! Who knew there were so many places that, either quietly or famously, do them so well? Also, when did basically everyone start dunking their spuds in truffle oil?
Questions for another time. For now, here are the best among the purveyors of French fries (and obviously many other kinds of delicious menu items), according to you:
Thyme - White River Junction, VT
Far and away the UV’s favorite. An automatic appetizer order. Do your best to ration out the garlic aioli sauce.
Elixir - White River Junction
One among the many truffle oil-cooked fries. Get ‘em with the duck confit!
VT Munchies - various locations
People are crazy for these truffle fries, too. Fresh-cut and from a food truck. Yes, please.
The Worthy Burger - South Royalton, VT
Worthy’s version of getting your fries “plain” is having them cooked twice in Wagyu beef tallow. Add parmesan and white truffle oil if you’re a hedonist.
Vin Dog’s Concessions & Catering - Woodsville, NH
Next time you’re heading north, pull off in Woodsville for Vin’s celebrated chili dog and, yeah, fries.
The Baited Hook Restaurant - Lebanon, NH
Canoe Club - Hanover, NH
Creekhouse Diner - Bethel, VT
Marsh Brothers Deli at the Little Store - Lebanon, NH
Parker House Inn & Bistro - Quechee, VT
Salt hill Pub - Lebanon, NH
